I haven't heard the 2005 set, but I'm guessing that it uses the same mastering as the 2001 version. Until today, I had only heard the 2001 remaster. I still need to spend more time listening to the '96 discs, but this is my initial reaction. I think the remaster has a little more bass, but it doesn't seem to translate to it "hitting" any harder than the original version. I think that there are some unanswered questions regarding the differences between the original '96 2-CD set (Was there a '95 pressing as well?) and the 20 remastered CD versions. All eyes on me I'd stick to original Priority/Interscope consolidated with the A1 A2 matrix in inner ring Mastered by Brian Big Bass Gardener 7. The album was released on Februby Death Row and Interscope Records. Above The Rim original Atlantic/Interscope mastered by Ted Jensen 6.
